Jet fuel shortages as wildfires ravage western states
American Airlines told pilots to conserve fuel when possible, as fuel delivery delays are impacting airports in western states. It is caused by the dozens of wildfires across the region affecting supplies.
Jet fuel deliveries could be impacted for much of August. As well as delivery disruptions, there is surging demand from firefighting aircraft to help put out about 80 wildfires.
Fresno Yosemite International Airport in California has already had flight delays and Reno-Tahoe International Airport could also be hit due to shrinking fuel supplies.
