Jet2 ditches credit card charge

Sunday, 05 Jan, 2016 0

Jet2 has ditched credit card fees following a similar move by north-east travel agency chain Dawson & Sanderson.

Jet2holidays and Jet2.com will no longer charge fees for paying for flights or holidays by plastic.

The companies previously charged 2.5% for payments by credit card.

Newcastle-based Dawson & Sanderson, which has 20 shops in the north-east, announced last month that it was dropping charges for credit cards with the exception of American Express and business cards from January .

It had previously charged 2.25%.

Jet2 is claiming that it is the first airline and operator to scrap credit card charges.

It said the decision to drop the surcharge was made independently of the government’s capping of interchange fees at 0.3% from December.
