Jet2 insists summer 2020 is ‘still alive’ after adding capacity to key destinations
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has added 100,000 seats to Greece, Turkey and Portugal after insisting Brits are still clamouring a summer 2020 holiday.
The operator said the capacity, across 500 flights, followed consumer demand.
The move came as Jet2 cancelled the rest of its summer programme to the Balearic Islands and further suspended flights and packages to the Canary Islands, mainland Spain and Croatia.
Jet2, which resumed flights to Portugal on 24 August after the lifting of travel restrictions, has added 100 flights to Faro from Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted, Newcastle and Manchester.
The company is also adding flights to Madeira from London Stansted,
In Turkey, 50 flights have been added with extra services to Antalya from Birmingham, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and London Stansted and to Dalaman from East Midlands, Manchester and Newcastle.
Additional capacity has also been added to a number of Greece routes.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays CEO Steve Heapy said: "The demand we are seeing for holidays in Portugal, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus tells us that Summer 20 is very much alive in our customers’ minds.
"It is clear that Britons want to get away from the gloom to enjoy their much-needed holidays, and we are responding to that by adding hundreds of flights so that they have even more choice when it comes to booking that welcome escape."
