JetBlue unveils big network expansion with 24 new routes

JetBlue is not letting a global pandemic get in the way of its network expansion.

It plans to launch 24 new routes starting later this year.

It is expanding its overseas network from its focus cities including Newark Liberty International Airport with flights to Aruba, Cancun, Montego Bay, Punta Cana, Nassau, Turks & Caicos and Sint Maarten.

It is also bringing international service to Los Angeles with flights to Cancun and San Jose and Liberia, Costa Rica.

"This is the latest example of JetBlue’s ability to be nimble and play offense as we quickly adjust to new customer behaviors and booking patterns," said Scott Laurence, head of revenue and planning, JetBlue.

"This latest series of new routes – even in the current environment – advances our revised network strategy, returns more aircraft to the skies and doubles down on our ability to generate more cash sooner."

There are also new destinations launching from Fort Lauderdale to Bozeman and Palm Springs International Airport in December 2020.

Most new JetBlue routes will be operated on Airbus A320 aircraft and the airline will restart some temporarily parked aircraft to support the new services.
