Jetstar clears final hurdle for international flights
Qantas owned budget airline Jetstar has cleared the final hurdle on the home strait of commencing its international services on Thursday, by yesterday being granted its Air Operator Certificate from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, enabling the carrier to use its fleet of Airbus A330-200 aircraft to fly long-haul international services from Australia.
Jetstar takes a quantum leap forward on Thursday, when it commences its services Melbourne to Bangkok, planning to fly the route three times a week, with Sydney to Phuket, three times a week from Friday and Sydney to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam three times a week from November 30.
Sydney to Bali, the Indonesian holiday island, will be also be operated twice a week from December 8, and Jetstar will fly Melbourne to Bali twice a week from December 9.
Jetstar CEO Alan Joyce said yesterday, “Jetstar is ecstatic to have obtained regulatory approval to commence our new international flights”.
