Travel Alberta, destination management organisation of the Canadian province of Alberta, has appointed KBC PR & Marketing as UK in-market representative.

Effective April 1, 2022, KBC assumes responsibility for Travel Alberta’s travel trade sales and marketing activities in the UK, with a brief to build awareness of the province’s tourism experiences.

It is tasked with helping attract high-value travellers to visit more of Alberta and encourage increased visitor spending throughout the province year-round.

“We are excited to work with KBC to inspire UK visitors to experience Alberta,” said Tannis Gaffney, Chief Marketing Officer with Travel Alberta.

“The UK is key to Alberta’s tourism recovery strategy as travel roadblocks are removed and the world competes for pent-up demand.”

Located in Western Canada, Alberta is known for its snow-capped mountains, lakes and rolling prairies, with highlights including Banff and Jasper National Parks.

There are the vibrant cities of Calgary and Edmonton, world-class skiing, a wealth of Indigenous heritage and night sky viewing experiences.

KBC, fronted by Director of PR David Ezra and Director of Trade Representation Lisa Cooper, has held Travel Alberta’s UK media relations contract since April 2016.

The agency will now add travel trade representation for Alberta to its client portfolio which also includes the Utah Office of Tourism, the Great American West, Explore Georgia, the Florida Keys & Key West, Destination British Columbia and the U.S. Travel Association.

“As Travel Alberta works to accelerate the recovery and growth of Alberta’s visitor economy, KBC’s understanding of our business and knowledge of our provincial tourism industry will be invaluable,” said Gaffney.

KBC Director of PR and Co-owner David Ezra said: “Alberta is well-known and is already extremely popular with British visitors to Canada, but there are some big strategic gains to be made in encouraging shoulder-season travel and visitor dispersal across the province.”

“We are looking forward to working closely with key tour operators and the travel trade to help Travel Alberta achieve its ambitious growth goals.”
