Korean Air under scrutiny as 'nut rage' airline exec's sister has her own tantrum

Monday, 16 April 20183 min read

A second daughter of the Korean Air Lines chairman is in hot water after another tantrum generated unwanted bad publicity for the airline.

Cho Hyun-min, a senior executive at the carrier, is the sister of Cho Hyun-ah, who was jailed in 2014 in the infamous ‘nut rage’ incident where she humiliated cabin crew which drew scorn at home and abroad.

In the latest incident Cho Hyun-min is accused of throwing a water bottle at a manager of the company’s ad agency during a business meeting.

"I was foolish. I am sorry," Cho said, denying throwing water but admitted pushing the manager.

Like her older sibling, she is being investigated by police.

She said in a Facebook post she has apologised to all those in attendance at the meeting for her ‘reckless’ behaviour.

Her older sister Cho Hyun-ah was briefly jailed for breaking aviation laws for forcing a KAL flight back to the gate at New York JFK after she was upset a flight attendant served peanuts in a package and not on a plate.

She then forced the flight attendant and supervisor to kneel and beg for forgiveness.

The women are daughters of Cho Yang-ho who is chairman and chief executive of Korean Air.
