Labour calls for scrapping of traffic light system
Labour leader Keir Starmer called for the ‘unworkable’ traffic light system to be ditched. The system has been ineffective in allowing the Delta variant into the country which has stymied the good work done with vaccinations, Starmer said.
"Drop the traffic light system, get rid of the amber list, secure the border and do everything possible to save the British summer," he said at PMQs. The system in its present form won’t stop more variants coming in, he said.
Travellers returning from an amber list country are required to isolate for 10 days on their return.
