Las Vegas tourism continued its growth spurt in 2015, recording a record-high estimate of more than 42 million travelers last year.
It easily surpassed the previous best last year of 41.1 million and the increase was credited with more direct flights into Las Vegas McCarran Airport and more convention business, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said.
Several music festivals and special events during the year also boosted visitor numbers.
"Las Vegas couldn’t have reached this achievement without the support of our resort partners and the dedicated workers who make the Las Vegas experience what it is," said Rossi Ralenkotter, president and CEO of the LVCVA.
Tourism in Nevada generates more than $50 billion a year and directly employs about 366,000 local jobs, the agency said.
Through to October, the city’s hotel occupancy rate grew nearly one percent to 89%, while average room rates were up to $121 a night.
