A Los Angeles airport worker was busted and has been charged with drug trafficking.
James Mitchell was charged yesterday in connection with an incident which temporarily closed down part of a terminal at LAX.
Prosecutors allege Mitchell checked in a suitcase in early December containing a package wrapped in Christmas paper.
A scan revealed dense material and emitted a strange smell which caused a partial shutdown of part of the terminal.
Security offers then discovered six bundles of heroin weighing about 13 pounds.
Prosecutors said it had an estimated street value of more than $2 million.
Mitchell left the airport and was apprehended a week later.
He was an employee of contractor Aero Port Services at LAX and had access to secure areas of the airport.
The 25-year old was charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin.
He could face life in prison if convicted.
