Leger introduces travel guide podcasts
Downloadable travel guide podcasts are being made available on a new Leger Holiday website.
The revamped website also includes an online booking facility and users can view Leger tours using Google Earth technology.
The coach tour operator has teamed up with Paris-based company PocketVox to offer audio destination guide books using podcast technology. The guides are available for purchase from €5 and cover many city destinations across Europe, including Salzburg, Paris, Prague, Budapest and Rome.
Leger claims to be the second travel company behind Thomson to offer podcasting guide books.
The website also features Web 2.0 technology with map ‘mash-ups’ and weather feeds for each destination and a community forum allowing visitors to contribute to the website and post notes for others to view.
The operator’s web development manager Michael Rhodes said: “This new website really takes advantage of how the web can act as a sales forum and help customers to browse and be inspired.
“Booking online has significantly enhanced our online offering and reinforced our already strong web presence. Furthermore, the technology will attract a new community of customers and provide another easy booking option for existing clients.
“I am particularly excited about the podcast feature, which enables people to download audio travel guides to take on holiday so that they can discover at their own pace the main monuments, artistic masterpieces and select districts in many of the world’s leading cities.
“The Google Earth technology provides extra destination information and satellite images available, inspiring customers to book something new.”
