Long weekend for Mark Warner staff
Staff at Mark Warner’s London office gave up their bank holiday weekend to man the office amid growing concern over the disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine McCann, who went missing from the operator’s Ocean Club resort in Portugal on Thursday night.
Staff, including head of marketing Nigel Ragg, have been working round-the-clock since Madeleine was reported missing, liaising with the resort and dealing with media queries and operational issues.
Mark Warner managing director David Hopkins and operations director Craig Mayhew flew out to the resort in Praia da Luz on Friday, along with a counsellor who is liaising with the family.
Ragg told TravelMole: “It’s very difficult circumstances. We’ve had a core team of people involved over the weekend.
“Progress is slow and we are all very frustrated that, as time goes on, we feel helpless. “It’s hard to know what to do. We are doing all we can and trying to liaise with police and parents.
“One of the difficulties is getting information from the police as, understandably, they are very reluctant to release any information.
“Yesterday, Mrs McCann made an emotional plea to the abductors, so we are waiting and hoping for good news.”
