BANGKOK – Luang Say and Vat Phou, two products under the Asian Oasis umbrella, will remain under the Thai company’s collection following the signing of another five-year contract between Asian Oasis and its Laotian partners.
As a result, Asian Oasis will remain responsible for the sales and marketing of what are widely considered to be most comfortable riverboats and lodge operations on the Mekong River in Laos today.
Chananya Phataraprasit, executive director of Asian Oasis, the Bangkok-based specialist in eco tourism and “slow travel”, said: “Luang Say and Vat Phou have been part of our collection for a long time and, as pioneers in the operation of small scale river and coastal cruises, we find it most rewarding that finally travelling in the slow lane is getting more popular every day.”
She said that Asian Oasis, which has focused on the development of low-density boutique travel, would continue to source and develop “genuine experiences outside of the mainstream”.
“Our customer base has been growing steadily so we are now searching for more Asian Oasis beyond our own borders.”
Asian Oasis separated from its mother company East West Siam in November last year. Its product range is widely distributed through the brochures of tour operators in Europe, North America and Australia. At the same time the company is pursuing advanced web and distribution strategies together with its sister companies Galileo Thailand and Circle of Asia.
The Luang Say Cruise is a journey through remote mountainous stretches of the Mekong River between the northern Thai border at Houeisay and the royal old City of Luang Prabang. The Vat Phou Cruise is a voyage of discovery exploring the exotic mystique of ancient Khmer ruins in the Southern Mekong region.
