Magazine names most sustainable bicycle tours
The Editorial Team at National Geographic Traveler Magazine has named its “most authentic, most innovative, most immersive, best-guided and most sustainable tours,” which is now available at http://www.bikehike.com/sustainable_tourism.html.
Highlights include mountain biking across the dramatic backdrop of the Andean Mountains; wildlife viewing at Los Llanos Wildlife Reserve – scarlett ibis, giant capybaras and crocodiles; Hiking to the San Jose de Mucuños Ruins along a network of back-country roads; and blasting through class III rapids on the Acequia River
"The outfitters we selected have responded to travelers looking for more meaning and context," said a National Geographic spokesman. "And beyond guiding you to the destination, they’ve also found novel ways to give back."
One of the “Top 50 Tours of a Lifetime” for this year is BikeHike Adventures’ 9-day Viva Venezuela tour.
BikeHike Adventures’ Viva Venezuela trip combines a multitude of sport activities with cultural experiences in rural Venezuelan communities far removed from the beaten path. The company says it is dedicated to preserving these communities using sustainable tourism practices.
The Venezuela trip costs USD$2,199, land only. There are various trip dates.
