Major Croatian hotel development unveiled
A multi-million euro investment in a hotel complex close to the Croatia coastal city of Rovinj has been unveiled.
Croatian hotel group Maistra is developing two five star properties as part of the Monte Mulini resort complex in addition to refurbishing two other properties.
The first new hotel to open this summer will be a boutique property, the 27 million euro Monte Mulini, featuring 109 rooms and 10 suites. Facilities will include a spa and wellness centre, beauty parlour, sport and fitness centre and shopping area.
This will be followed in 2009 by luxury business hotel The Lone, costing 40 million euros with 240 rooms, nine suites, a presidential suite and a conference centre.
Both will join the Eden Hotel and Park Hotel which have recently been refurbished.
Maista claims the new hotel will represent an “enormous leap forward” for Croatia’s tourism offering.
Company director Kristian Sustar said: “By the end of 2009 we will have completed our investment cycle worth about 335 million euros, making us the most ambitious tourism investor in the region.
“Our mission is to convert Rovinj and Maistra’s accommodation capabilities into an inevitable stop on the Mediterranean coast.”
