Malmaison Hotel du Vin has received planning permission from York City Council for a multi-million pound transformation of Yorkshire House on Rougier Street into a Malmaison hotel.
Work on the 160-room hotel is set to begin later this year.
CEO Paul Roberts said: "We have long been fans of York, where Hotel du Vin continues to be a favourite for both locals and visitors. The vibrancy of the City means that it is also a perfect location for the Malmaison brand. We can’t wait to get started on this exciting opportunity."
The hotel will have a Chez Mal Bar and Brasserie and the brand’s new meeting and events concept, Work + Play.
The news comes after the acquisition of four new properties in the UK.
