For those who are less keen to throw themselves down the slopes, Mammoth Lakes offers endless options for snowy adventures.
The mountain saw 76cm of fresh snowfall last weekend, so there is plenty of fun to be had off the piste.
Follow the trails snowshoeing
Snowshoeing is the perfect way to explore Mammoth’s winter wonderland at a slower pace. Feel the crisp mountain air and take in majestic views of ice-covered lakes and snow-clad peaks. A number of the roads transform into trails for the winter, and visitors can explore over 140 miles of tracks that wind throughout Mammoth Lakes and into the expanse of the Inyo National Forest. A different mode of transport snowmobiling
With 80 miles of groomed snowmobile trails and 75,000 acres to explore, the Eastern Sierra delivers some of the best snowmobiling in the West. Mammoth sees an average annual snowfall of 30-plus feet which makes for varied terrain and spectacular scenery, drawing visitors from all over to experience snowmobiling at its best. Get everyone involved tubing and sledding
Tubing and sledding in Mammoth Lakes are fun-for-all adventures. For serious sledders, Woolly’s Adventure Summit is perfect for visitors looking for a rush of adrenaline. Here you can zip down the hill in a high-speed snow tube and take the magic carpet back to the top to do it again. For those looking for a relaxed sledding experience, head out to explore the sledding and snow play opportunities in the many public areas in Mammoth Lakes.
Hit the ice ice-skating
LA Kings Ice provides an Olympic-size indoor ice-skating rink in the new Community Recreation Center. The CRC will be open and available to the public year-round, with the new ice rink operating annually each winter season between October and April.
Take a seat restaurants and dining
Mammoth Lakes also has a wide selection of local restaurants to help fuel those outdoor adventures. From early morning breakfast at Looney Bean, one of the longest-running local coffee shops, to drinks at Lincoln Bar to end a day on the slopes, it’s not difficult to find a good meal and friendly company in Mammoth Lakes.
