Mandalay Bay Hotel will never rent out shooter’s suite again

MGM Resorts International said it will never again rent out the Mandalay Bay Hotel room used by mass killer Stephen Paddock.

The 32nd-floor suite no 32135 will forever be off-limits to guests but MGM declined to say what will happen to it.

"This was a terrible tragedy perpetrated by an evil man. We have no intention of renting that room," the company said in a statement to the Las Vegas Sun.

Paddock gunned down 58 people and wounded hundreds in the worst mass shooting by a lone gunman in US history.

The hotel group has also not disclosed what will happen to the grounds outside the hotel where the Route 91 Harvest country music festival took place.

More than three weeks later, investigators are still in the dark over Paddock’s motive for the attack.

Last week a judge ordered MGM Resorts not to destroy anything left in the room that could be deemed evidence in a future trial.

The injunction also stops Mandalay Bay from wiping any video surveillance footage clean, and must retain all access card-swipe data until a later hearing on October 30.

The ruling was made in relation to a lawsuit filed on behalf of Rachel Sheppard, who was injured in the shooting.
