Three years ago, lack of interest forced organizers of an adult March of the Living trip to cancel the planned Holocaust-remembrance pilgrimage to Poland and Israel.
But this year business is booming for the two-week trip next spring, reports the Florida Sun-Sentinel. Seventy people already are signed up, including seven Holocaust survivors.
A waiting list is expected as survivors and their children and grandchildren make plans to travel together before the survivors grow too old to make the trip, according to a report in the Sun Sentinel.
Thousands of Jewish teenagers from 40 countries have gone on the March of the Living, an emotional journey to Poland and Israel that commemorates the Holocaust in Europe during World War II.
Marchers visit the remains of Jewish life in Poland, including cemeteries, ghettos, mass graves and Nazi death camps such as Auschwitz and Majdanek. Then they travel to Israel, where they witness the rebirth of Judaism.
Organizers in Florida say they are not sure why the, which costs about $7,225, has become such a hot ticket.
The trips began 26 years ago as a way for Jewish teenagers to learn about the Holocaust, but they have grown into a diverse group, including not only families but also non-Jewish teens, teachers and adult groups.
More than 10,000 people have taken the trips back in time.
