Marriott to pull out of Guam
Marriott International has announced its exit from the Guam tourist market from April this year.
The 19-story Guam Marriott Resort & Spa will transition to the Pacific Star brand and renamed the Pacific Star Resort & Spa from April 1.
Marriott International and the hotel owners, Marianas Properties LLC, have ended a partnership according to Roy Abraham, general manager of the Guam Marriott Resort & Spa.
"The relationship between the two organizations remains cordial. Marriott International will work hard to facilitate a smooth transition of the hotel operations over to Pacific Star Resort & Spa," he said.
Owners Marianas Properties said they plan to retain management and staff of the hotel beyond the take-over date.
Previously known as the Pacific Star Hotel, the property has had a troubled past with ownership changing hands several times in the last decade.
