Meat Loaf sues Hyatt after fall at Dallas hotel

Veteran rocker Meat Loaf is suing a Hyatt Regency hotel which he claims is responsible for a fall which left the singer hospitalized for more than a month.

Meat Loaf, 72, and his wife Deborah Lee Gillespie are suing Hyatt Regency at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Meat Loaf, real name Michael Lee Aday, was a guest speaker at the horror convention Texas Frightmare Weekend, which the hotel hosted in May 2019.

As he was preparing to participate in a Q and A, he fell off the stage.

The couple are also suing Frightmare Weekend LLC.

The suit claims Meat Loaf suffered neck, collar bone and shoulder injuries.

He was rushed to a local hospital ER and stayed there for 12 days.

The ‘Bat out of Hell’ singer was then transferred to the Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee where he stayed for another 30 days.

After being released he underwent physical therapy sessions.

The lawsuit alleges Hyatt and the festival organizer were negligent in the way the stage was set up which created a ‘hidden hazard.’

"The Defendants hung curtains from a tall frame at the back edge of the stage. The curtains came past the bottom of the stage where participants were walking and hid where the stage ended. Therefore, when viewing the stage from the participants’ standpoint, one would be unable to determine how much space they had while walking near the curtains before they would fall off the backside of the stage," it states.
