Melbourne Airport passenger traffic continues to rebound
Melbourne Airport passenger numbers continued to recover in March.
It rebounded to almost 88% of pre-Covid levels with 2.7 million.
The number of international travellers continues to climb, with 721,000 passengers or 80% of the March 2019 number.
It was helped by an increase in international capacity.
Last month marked the return of Cebu Pacific services to Manila, the relaunch of Qantas flights to Tokyo Haneda, and the resumption of Emirates’ third daily flight to Dubai.
There was also an increase in services to mainland China.
New services have continued in April, with Vietjet launching flights from Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh City and Qantas soon starting direct Jakarta flights.
Domestic seat numbers have also increased, helped by new low-cost carrier Bonza launching flights from Melbourne.
