MHG buys six hotels in Portugal and Brazil
Minor Hotel Group has paid €168 million for six hotels operating under the Tivoli Hotels & Resorts brand in Portugal and Brazil, plus ownership of the Tivoli brand in Brazil.
Included in the deal are four hotels in Portugal: one in Lisbon and three in the Algarve, plus two hotels in Brazil: the Tivoli Sao Paulo Mofarrej in Sao Paulo and the Tivoli Ecoresort Praia do Forte close to Salvador n Bahia.
In addition to the six properties, the acquisition includes a hotel operating platform and the intellectual property rights to the Tivoli Hotels & Resorts brand for Brazil.
The four hotels in Portugal are leased to a third-party, which owns the Tivoli brand for the country.
The six hotels will continue to operate as Tivoli and Tivoli Collection, the two brands within Tivoli Hotels & Resorts.
Tivoli Hotels & Resorts brands in Brazil and Portugal have existing co-marketing and co-distribution agreements. Tivoli is a member of Global Hotel Alliance, to which three of MHG’s existing brands – Anantara, AVANI and Per AQUUM – also belong.
