Midwest wins best airline for economy

Thursday, 22 November 20073 min read

For the sixth consecutive time, Midwest Airlines was ranked #1 in overall quality for US Economy service by readers of the 2007 Zagat rankings.

The Zagat US Airlines Survey, which was conducted in cooperation with NBC’s Today show, covers 20 air carriers (a separate survey covers 64 major airlines that fly internationally).

“The survey reflects the input of 7,498 frequent flyers and travel professionals who rate each airline for its comfort, food, service, Web site and timeliness,” says the site.

Along with being voted best overall, Midwest Airlines was also rated the top airline in the Comfort, Food and Service categories. The complete survey is available at http://www.zagat.com.

The announcement comes on the heels of other positive achievements for Midwest in 2007, including wide-ranging schedule and service enhancements, the launch of several new markets — including the recent additions of nonstop service between Kansas City and Austin and between Milwaukee and Charlotte.

The airline also won the “World’s Best Domestic Airline” award from Travel+Leisure, said Timothy E. Hoeksema, chairman and chief executive officer.

Midwest Airlines features jet service throughout the US, including Milwaukee’s most daily nonstop flights and best schedule to major destinations.
