Migrant activity brings more Eurotunnel delays
Eurotunnel is warning passengers of delays to its services this morning due to ‘overnight migrant activity and late departures’.
The operator said there would be delays of up to 60 minutes but later reduced it to 30 minutes.
"Our passenger service is currently operating with some timetable disruption, this is due to an earlier incident in the Terminal which has now been resolved. There is a waiting time of approximately 30 minutes on the terminal," it said.
"We regret that we are currently unable to sell tickets to non reserved customers. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this will cause to your journey."
Yesterday, Eurotunnel services were delayed after the body of a teenager, thought to be a migrant, was found on the roof of a Eurotunnel train travelling from Calais.
Earlier this week, Eurotunnel demanded almost €10m (£7m) in compensation from the French and British governments to cover security costs and lost business due to the migrant crisis in Calais.
Today’s delays are also being made worse by congestion on roads leading to Folkstone.
