Minneapolis TSA reportedly missed 95 percent of banned items in undercover tests

TSA screeners at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport failed to find dangerous items 95% of the time in recent undercover security tests by federal agents.

The federal ‘Red Team,’ posing as passengers, slipped a variety of items through screening checks which included explosive materials, fake weapons and drugs.

In 18 attempts, just one was detected by TSA screeners, according to sources quoted by Fox 9 News.

The sources also told Fox 9 News the airport failed nine out of 12 tests last year.

In response, the agency released a brusque statement to Fox 9.

"TSA cannot confirm or deny the results of internal tests and condemns the release of any information that could compromise our nation’s security," it said.
