More flights cancelled as French national strike enters second day

One fifth of flights going in and out of France remain cancelled today as the country suffers a second day of strikes.

Short-haul services are the worse affected, with easyJet, Ryanair, British Airways and Air France among the airlines who have been forced to cancel and delay flights.

Only 10% of the country’s trains are running, according to rail operator SNCF, and many Metro lines, teams and buses are also affected.

Eurostar is operating a reduced service until the end of next week amid concerns that the industrial action will continue.

Many workers in other industries returned to work today but transport workers are still protesting against planned changes to the country’s pension system.
