Most staterooms on new Celebrity ship to have balconies
Celebrity Cruises is ordering a new ship and launching a new class.
The new ship will incorporate many features associated with luxury cruising. More than 90% of the ship’s staterooms are outside cabins, and more than 90% of those have balconies.
The standard on the new ship from German shipbuilder Meyer Werft will also be much larger than standard. Average staterooms will be 215 square feet.
The new ship, Celebrity’s first wide-body model, can accommodate 2,850 guests. The company expects delivery in the fall of 2008.
With the new ship and current ship orders, Celebrity predicts fleet capacity to increase by 2.8% next year and 7.4% in 2007.
Celebrity Cruises is owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., a global cruise vacation company that also operates Royal Caribbean International The company has a combined 29 ships.
