Mottershead leaves TUI
Chris Mottershead is leaving as head of TUI UK after two and a half years.
He will be replaced by TUI’s current Northern Europe chief executive, Peter Rothwell.
Mr Mottershead, who has been on a summer break, is leaving to pursue other business interests.
Mr Rothwell, who assumes the role of TUI UK managing director as well as his previous title of chief executive of TUI Northern Europe, is to conduct a review of the business following Mr Mottershead’s departure.
He said: “I will take on the role of MD of TUI UK and intend to carry out a review to build on the solid foundations Chris has set in place.”
Mr Mottershead had “take the opportunity to review his personal circumstances and has decided that he would like to leave TUI UK and develop his other business interests”.
Formerly with rival Airtours in the UK and Canada, Mr Mottershead joined TUI UK in 2001.
Mr Rothwell said: “Over the three years since then, despite the challenges our industry has faced, TUI UK has delivered industry-leading financial results and has driven through innovation in all areas from distribution to our overseas operations, from branding to our systems infrastructure and many other parts of the business.”
He added: “I would personally like to thank Chris for his inspirational leadership during this period, for his clear-sighted direction and for getting the business in such good shape. I would like to wish him every success for the future.”
