Nashville hotel partly evacuated over suspected carbon monoxide leak

At least 14 people were sickened after a suspected carbon monoxide leak at the downtown Westin hotel in Nashville.

Six were taken to hospital, the Nashville Fire Department said.

The leak took place early Wednesday morning and high coarbon monoxide levels were detected on the third floor where the hotel’s pool and fitness center is located.

That area was cleared and ventilated but the rest of the hotel was not evacuated.

It is suspected a newly installed heater could be the source.

Emergency services temporarily closed off sections of road surrounding the hotel and normal hotel operations resumed by late afternoon on Wednesday.

"We are working closely with those guests impacted by the incident and with the Fire Department. The safety of all of our guests and staff is our top priority," hotel management said in a statement.
