A new Australian airline startup is on the horizon.

A new project called Koala Airlines has announced its intention to make a serious go as a third airline option in Australia.

It come just months after both Bonza and Rex found challenging the Qantas-Virgin Australia duopoly a near impossible task,

The startup has announced an intention to enter the market with Boeing 737 jets on domestic routes.

It could be some way off yet.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) says Koala Airlines doesn’t have the necessary air operator permits yet.

The company left an enticing message on its website.

“As we progress, we will reveal more with you and welcome those in the industry who share our vision for excellence.”

The Koala Airlines entity says it acquired Desert Air Safaris Pty Ltd, tourism charter operator, in 2019.

“This acquisition brought together two passionate entities. The legacy of Desert Air will continue under the rebranded name of Koala Airlines”.

Koala says it will carve out its own niche in the market and take a ‘more innovative route’ than just focusing on low cost service.
