New boss for Low Fares Airlines Association
Former Flybe alliances director John Hanlon has spelt out key issues facing budget carriers after becoming secretary general of the Europe Low Fares Airlines Association.
The “significant challenges” ahead include EU over-regulation, ongoing protectionism of some national carriers and the spiralling costs of fuel.
Hanlon, who previously spent 29 years with British Airways, said: “Low fares airlines are best placed to rise to these challenges and I look forward to working with the industry to ensure that air transport remains competitive and continues its role as a vital contributor to economic growth and regional development.”
He replaces Jan Skeels who helped set up the organisation two years ago. Members include easyJet, Ryanair, Flybe, Sterling, Hapag-Lloyd Express and Wizzair.
