New CEO named for Destination Canada

Destination Canada has a new president and CEO
Canada’s minister of economic development Melanie Joly, announced Marsha Walden as the new chief of the destination marketing organization, effective next week.
Walden joins Destination Canada from Destination British Columbia where she was president and CEO for the past seven years.
She takes over from David Robinson, who has been interim president and CEO for the last six months.
"Marsha is a well-respected and trusted member of the ‘Team Canada’ tourism community. Her experience and impressive record of success will be an asset to Destination Canada," said Ben Cowan-Dewar, Destination Canada’s chair of the board of directors.
"Her thought leadership and excellent track record will steer the mid- and long-term planning of Destination Canada throughout the recovery of the country’s resilient visitor economy."
Last year Canada welcomed 22.1 million visitors, contributing to an estimated $79.86 billion in tourism-related spending.
