NHS Covid pass extended to cinemas, theatres in Wales
Starting on Monday November 15, the NHS Covid pass is required in Wales to enter cinemas, theatres and concert halls.
Members of the Senedd approved the extension, which was immediately criticised by Welsh Liberal Democrats.
They described it as’lliberal and unworkable.’
"Covid has not gone away and cases remain high and we need to continue take steps to keep Wales safe. The NHS Covid Pass is one measure among many to help to keep businesses open while also helping to control the spread of the virus," said Minister for Health and Social Services, Eluned Morgan.
Morgan says it impacts venues that are indoors and accommodate ‘large numbers of people closely together for prolonged periods of time.’
"The decision to introduce them has not been taken lightly."
The NHS Covid pass has been in use for customers entering nightclubs and similar event venues for a month.
‘We have received positive feedback from a range of businesses and organisers of major events, including following the recent rugby internationals. We will continue to work with the sectors who are implementing the scheme to best support them," Morgan added.
