Norfolk Island offers great value this summer
Norfolk Island would like travel agents to know that it has plenty of avaiability for the Xmas – New Year holiday period and would like to welcome everyone from singles to families, from boomers to seniors.
“The welcome mat is well and truly out,” said Tourism Norfolk Island General Manager Steve McInnes.
“Whilst other destinations may be full or on high peak rates, Norfolk Island is available and keen to welcome all and sundry – so much so that we have introduced a $99 kids’ fare and extended a range of low season fares and rates for the package market.
Mr McInnes said the island is working hard to reposition itself to a younger market.
“We have decided to extend low season initiatives into the peak period so that we can attract families and younger visitors who may not have had us on their holiday check list.
“The island enjoys very reliable air services with twice weekly flights from Brisbane and Sydney on a Qantas-ticketed 747-400 jet service and Air New Zealand connections via Auckland for those in the Southern States preferring that option.”
Mr McInnes said the island had also begun targeting the huge Baby Boomer market with an advertising campaign on the East Coast and a range of packages based on extended low season wholesaler rates.
“Norfolk Island is a great destination for all age groups, and we are excited to be able to offer such initiatives at a time when large numbers of Australians are looking for a great holiday alternative.”
He urged agents to consider Norfolk Island for clients who may be looking for a Fiji or other South Pacific holiday but have found them fully booked this high season.
“The island offers great soft adventure, beach and accommodation options, all at a price that will enable holidaymakers to stay just that little bit longer and do it with just a little bit more luxury than otherwise,” he said.
The $99 kids’ fare applies to all Saturday and Wednesday departures from Sydney and Brisbane and agents are advised to contact their preferred Norfolk Island wholesaler for special package deals.
