Norwegian Bliss joins NCL fleet

Norwegian Cruise Line has taken delivery of mega-cruise liner Norwegian Bliss.

The third ship in the line’s Breakaway Plus class and was handed over to CEO Andy Stuart by Meyer Werft during a ceremony in Bremerhaven, Germany.

Following a short preview cruise in Europe, Norwegian Bliss will leave Southampton on its transatlantic journey on April 21.

The ship’s christening ceremony takes place at Pier 66 in Seattle in late May and Norwegian Bliss begins its first seven-day voyage to Alaska on June 2.

Norwegian Bliss is the first ship custom-built for the Alaska market

The summer will be spent on week-long cruises to Alaska followed by Mexican Riviera voyages out of Los Angeles in the fall, and then to Miami for the winter.

Norwegian Bliss will sail from New York to Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean in 2019.

Stuart said: "Norwegian Bliss is one of our most highly-anticipated ships to date, and today marks another exciting milestone for the newest and most innovative ship of our young and modern fleet."

Ship amenities include an electric car race track and open-air laser tag course.

Entertainment programming includes Broadway musical Jersey Boys.
