NTT warns of industry ‘evolution’ as it switches to Sabre

Wednesday, 27 Mar, 2003 0

Sabre is continuing its recent growth in Scandinavia with the conversion of Swedish consolidator and Middle East specialist NTT International Tours and Travel. The Stockholm-based agency converted from Worldspan.

Managing director George Ozgol said his company had been searching for travel commerce products and services that would help NTT diversify its revenue streams and grow its business.

“Sabre has evolved successfully from a travel distribution service into a travel commerce and marketing partner,” he said. “The structure of the entire travel industry is going to change radically over the next few years and I need to partner with companies that are anticipating this change.”

NTT has four offices in Sweden; two at Arlanda Airport, one in Stockholm and the other in Spånga. It offers negotiated fares from 60 airlines and has 30 non-IATA travel agency partners. It represents Holiday Malta, and is the Swedish ticketing office for Air Malta, Azzurra Air, Cyprus Airways, Lithuanian Airlines and Virgin Express.

Sabre’s Scandinavian functionality has been boosted in recent months with the introduction of Swedish ground transportation, additional Swedish and Norwegian rail booking capabilities, and e-ticketing on a wide range of airlines and routes. Its recent conversions include Swedish corporate and leisure travel specialist Oden Resor, and Danish agencies Check Point Travel A/S and UNITAS Rejser A/S.
