Friday, 12 Jan, 2006 0

One of the management team responsible for launching Orbitz, Mike Nelson, is to head up Cendant’s international consumer travel businesses.

Nelson, who becomes chief operating officer, will oversee ebookers, HotelClub, Rates to Go, Travelbag and Octopus Travel across Europe, Middle East and Africa and the Asia-Pacific regions.

He will relocate from the US where he held the role of senior vice president supplier services at Orbitz.

Nelson was one of the inaugural management team at the online agency when it launched five years ago and helped guide it to profitability in its third year.

Cendant acquired Orbitz in 2004.

Nelson replaces Ronen Stauber who held the role on an interim basis.
