Pacific Delight Tours suspends operations as coronavirus takes toll

Monday, 10 Feb, 2020 0

Far East specialist Pacific Delight Tours has suspended operations due to a significant downturn in business casued by the coronavirus outbreak.

USTOA said the company is no longer part of the USTOA $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program.

Bookings made before February 3 2020 may be covered under the assistance program, said USTOA president and CEO Terry Dale.

Pacific Delight’s core business is China tours.

"Given the cancellations and uncertain future caused by media reports about the coronavirus, we have decided it is in the best interest of our valued travel advisor partners, and loyal travelers to suspend operations indefinitely," said Michael Kong, managing director of Pacific Delight Tours.

The company has been in business nearly 50 years and a member of USTOA for the past 28 years.

It pledged to refund all group and tour payments for future travel and is paying suppliers for the few non-China tours that have not been cancelled.

In a message to travel advisor partners it said: "We thank you for your support over the years. It has truly been a pleasure working in the same industry with you, particularly in the Asia Pacific theater."
