The Ironman Panama competition will take place on February 12, 2014.
Athletes will swim 1.2 miles (1.9 km) in the Pacific Ocean at the entrance to the Panama Canal, one of "The Seven Wonders of the Modern World" before biking 56 miles (90 km), crossing the Bridge of the Americas, which connects Central and South America.
There will then be a 13.1 mile (21km), two-loop, run course that will take athletes through the Amador Causeway, a major tourism area surrounded by the Pacific Ocean.
