Paper tickets ‘almost a thing of the past’
Paper tickets are “almost a thing of the past” as Air Portugalia becomes the latest carrier to offer e-ticketing through Galileo.
The Portuguese airline is the 44th to activate e-ticketing through the GDS following Kenya Airways, America West, South African Airways and Icelandair earlier this year.
Galileo has also introduced 110 interline agreements to give a total of 208, providing e-ticketing capability across multiple destinations and complex itineraries.
Jason Clarke, regional marketing manager for the GDS’s parent Cendant TDS in the UK and Ireland, said: “The addition of Air Portugalia to Galileo’s portfolio reinforces our commitment to continue to lead by offering agents the widest choice of e-ticketable carriers.
“With nearly 90% of bookings being e-ticketable via Galileo, paper tickets are now almost a thing of the past. This not only means greater efficiency when making or amending bookings but also brings financial savings. Our customers tell us that on average paper tickets cost £5, so with Galileo you are actively saving you and your customers more money.”
