Paris and Amsterdam come out top for hotel searches online
Paris and Amsterdam were the most popular short haul destinations for hotel searches while the US got the top spot for long haul.
In May, there were 322,360 searches for short haul hotels-related terms online, while 206,066 searched for long haul hotels, according to the latest Greenlight Sector Report on Hotels.
Paris accounted for 11% of desktop searches and 15% of mobile searches, while Amsterdam got 9% of the desktop market and 18% of the mobile searches.
Barcelona was the next most popular short haul hotel search destination with 6% of the desktop and 7% of the mobile searches, followed by Benidorm, Rome and Venice.
In long haul searches, the US accounted for 21% of desktop searches and 20% of mobile searches – with New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Miami all featuring.
Dubai attracted 9% of desktop searches and 17% of mobile search while New York got 11% of desktop searches and 10% of mobile browsing.
Las Vegas accounted for 8% of desktop searches and 10% of mobile, followed by Singapore, San Francisco and Miami.
