Passenger sparks terror alert on flight

Sunday, 09 Feb, 2016 0

A passenger sparked an airline terror alert after telling cabin crew someone on board the flight was armed with knives.

The man made the claim in a note passed to staff on an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Edinburgh.

A spokesperson for the Dublin Garda told MailOnline: "A male passenger aged in his 20s was removed from the plane by Gardai and detained under the Mental Health Act, he has since been admitted to hospital."

Passengers watched as the man was dragged off the plane by anti-terror police causing the flight to be delayed.

He added: "The flight proceeded on its planned journey a short time later. There was no one injured during the incident."
