Pay deals secured for workers at two Scottish airports

Unite has secured a pay deal for workers at a second Scottish airport this week, avoiding another possible airport strike.

Workers at Edinburgh Airport unanimously backed a 12% pay increase.

They will also get a one-off cash payment of £1,000.

The members had voted for an airport strike recently with no progress on the pay deal.

The 500 employees based at Edinburgh Airport work in in airport security and terminal operations.

“This is another great deal for our members, this time at Edinburgh Airport,” Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said.

Unite this week announced 100 members based at Glasgow Airport Limited secured an 11% pay rise.

“Our members were prepared to take airport strike action in order to secure a better wage increase. A 12% rise and a £1,000 cash payment really is an excellent result,” said Carrie Binnie, Unite industrial officer.
