PIA to seize flight crew passports on overseas layovers
With another crew member going missing during an overseas layover, Pakistan International Airlines is taking drastic action.
PIA has ordered cabin crew on overseas duty to hand over their passports to the station manager upon arrival.
The airline hopes to avoid any more crew going missing overseas after one failed to show up for duty in Toronto, Canada.
It is the second incident where a flight crew member has gone AWOL after arriving in Canada in the past few months.
PIA General Manager, Flight Services, Aamir Bashir said passports would be rreturned at check-in for their return journey and all crew must remain in their stopover hotel under existing Covid containment protocols.
The airline launched an investigation and is cooperating with Canadian immigration officials.
