The captain of an AirAsia India flight took no chances after hearing of possible corona virus infection in the cabin, by exiting from a cockpit window.
The pilot left the plane through the cockpit’s secondary exit which is a sliding window, to avoid the front row seats.
Several passengers sat at the front were suspected of being infected but later tested negative.
All other passengers were directed out of the rear exit on arrival at New Delhi Airport.
The pilot had already taxied to a remote bay at the airport as an extra precaution.
"Crew in the cockpit self-quarantined until the cabin environment near the primary exit was ascertained to be safe. The captain elected to disembark from the secondary exit using a secure trestle, given the close proximity of the seats from the cockpit," an airline spokesperson said.
"Our crew are well-trained for incidents of this nature."
The plane was then fully fumigated and the flight crew isolated themselves for two weeks.
