Pilot made crash threats on 9/11 anniversary
UK: MyTravel first officer would not have carried out threat, court hears
A pilot for the holiday company MyTravel made threats to crash a plane into council offices on the anniversary of 11 September, a court was told yesterday.
The Daily Express covers the trial of First Officer Kenneth Moody, who made the threat to officers of Renfrewshire District Council after failing to resolve a council matter involving a family member. The newspaper reports that Moody “shouted, swore and hurled abuse”, before adding: “I’m going to fly a 767 into this building.”
When MyTravel found out about the incident, Moody was removed from the flight roster pending a CAA investigation, but resumed his job after being found “fully fit to fly”. The court was told that there was no danger of Moody carrying our his threat, and MyTravel has confirmed that he is still employed and working as a pilot on charter routes out of Glasgow airport.
