Pilots strike hits flights to Portugal

Wednesday, 23 Oct, 2007 0

Flights to Portugal face disruption for three days due to strike action by pilots.

National carrier TAP Air Portugal warned of “severe delays and flight cancellations” today and on October 25 and 27.

“This planed industrial action is expected to cause severe inconvenience to the travelling public and major disruption for the national carrier,” the airline said.

The dispute follows the breakdown of talks between the Portuguese government and the country’s Union of Civil Aviation Pilots over a range of issues including raising the retirement age to 65.

TAP advised travellers to contact the airline on 0845 601 0932 for the latest information on their flights.
