P&O Ferries suffers weekend of cancellations and delays
P&O Ferries has been hit by delays and cancellations all weekend due to a propeller problems with the Spirit of France ship.
The ferry operator said that the repair, coupled with the continued absence of the Pride of Canterbury following a fire at the end of September, had led to the disruption.
But it said the Spirit of France was due to return to service this evening, when normal operations would resume.
A spokesman said: "The Spirit of France has been in Rotterdam all weekend due to a propeller problem that required the ship to be dry-docked.
"That, coupled with the continued absence of the Pride of Canterbury which is still being repaired following the fire at the end of September, has led to cancellations and delays all weekend.
"All customers booked on sailings up to the DOCA 16h45 and CADO 20h00 today were text messaged yesterday afternoon to advise of cancellations but we do expect to get the Spirit of France back this evening whereupon we will be able to carry our booked traffic without further problems.
"The Pride of Canterbury will return by mid-December when other ships are then due to start leaving for refit."
