Puerto Rico woos US agents

Wednesday, 20 Nov, 2002 0

Puerto Rico is boosting US agents’ commissions and offering them sweepstakes and online guides in an attempt to win more bookings.

Puerto Rico Tourism Company deputy executive director Jose Saurez said his efforts would be futile without agents and added it was imperative to develop rewards programmes for them.

A ‘dream sweepstake’, which is valid for bookings of three nights or more from January 31 to April 30, features daily cash prizes of $100 and the chance to win a car as a grand prize.

The PRTC also said more than 30 properties in Puerto Rico are participating in a 15% commission offer for bookings on pre and post cruise packages.

Suarez said it would intervene to help agents resolve problems if any tourism bodies decided to cut commission in the future.
